In other news from this popular oral history organization, Irish Life and Lore is currently printing 250 limited-edition copies of The Big House in Kerry: a social history in hardcover with dust jackets.

This lavishly illustrated publication was initially released in softbound in November 2022 and tells the stories of 20 of Kerry’s historic estate houses and their occupants. It offers the first detailed examination of the influence of the landed gentry on the county’s social, political and physical landscape. Many of the names of the families discussed will be familiar to our readers as influential players in shaping the story of post-medieval and early modern Kerry.
